This is a beautifully organized, clearly written reference guide targeted towards beginners that know very little about JavaScript and may not of even heard of jQuery. Not to fear, you will understand in great detail when you are finished with this book. In terms of what is new in edition 3 (over 2nd edition): There are about 100 new pages that mainly focus on jQuery plugins, pJSON with Google Maps and Flickr, and an expansion of the trouble-shooting and debugging. Perhaps not enough if you already have the 2nd edition, but it is wonderful that McFarland keeps revising this classic to ensure that it is relevant and timely.

This is one of the best reference book I have ever read and have used since I purchased it. I bought the book for a night class I was taking to improve my knowledge of web development and JavaScript and I learned so much from this book The examples and companion scripts are easy to follow and can be used for creativity. I love this book because it doesn't contain tons of filler. The book just gets straight to the point of learning JavaScript and JQuery. There are so many crucial chapters in this book that fully explains variables, conditional statements , methods , loops, breaks and functions. The book provides detailed lessons in jQuery including learning about the various methods and events along effectively use the jQuery widgets Before I used this book, I knew some JavaScript plus CSS and HTML5. Now I have clear understanding(not a master) of JavaScript and jQuery which makes me one step closer to my ultimate goal to learn the intricacies of the MEAN stack. Buy this book today

If you want to learn javascript and jquery quickly, and if you just have time to read only one book, THIS IS THE BOOK.Author generously explained the basic concepts so well, which may take months to learn elsewhere. For example, why a variable is named with $ prefix, what benefits you gain, I dont think it is explained so well elsewhere. Author never failed to explain each such unique things about javascriptIt covers the fundamentals well, at the same time, covers practical code for real-life apps.I am lucky to get hold of a hardcopy. Planning to read it atleast 3 times.Even though I am a solid java programmer, reading this book made me understand the differences in javascript way of programming.Must for beginner to advanced programmers (not for advanced javascript experts)

I finally undertand how this stuff works- and I can fall in love again with Javascript (I learned it years ago, then it went out of favor and I didnt use it much for a long time, then came back in and couldnt get modern Javascript and how it all worked with jQuery, Ajax and Jason . Wasnt my first try, either for any of them in the last couple of years- third or fourth for most.This book made it all make sense interweaving theory, syntax and practical application (what, how and why). Only teaching I found with all three.

Easy read, pretty informative.

So clearly if you are about to buy this book its because it is required for school....our professor read one page from it and then told us she will not be using it anymore, so we just used our med-surge book for all information for rehab. Why you ask? Because after EVERY SENTENCE there is a citation. We are reading a book that is just citing every sentence (Mcnabb, 2014) How annoying is it to not only read fluff, but also know the author has no original thought (McNabb, 2014). I read three chapters and learned nothing (McNabb, 2014) The book gives no new information, just vomits sentences a child could have created (McNabb, 2014) If you have to buy this book, i feel bad for you son, I got 99 problems and this book aint one. Hit me! (McNabb, 2014) Tell your professor to read a chapter for spinal cord (or any chapter but you'd think for spinal cord you'd learn a lot since theres a lot to learn!) and you'll realize what i mean. THIS BOOK IS WORTHLESS (McNabb, 2014)

It is tempting to refer to both the volume and the series as "magisterial," though Ku{}ng's rocky relationship with the magisterium of the Roman Catholic Church gives that adjective a decidedly ironic twist. The book is further evidence of Ku{}ng's already well established place in a tradition of German systematizers whose systems, though driven by laudably global motivations, have had ambiguous global consequences. This book continues Ku{}ng's application of Thomas Kuhn's paradigm analysis--developed as a way to think about the structure of scientific revolutions--to religion. It is not so much a "history" as an examination of five "constellations" of Christianity (the Jewish Christian apocalyptic, Hellenistic Byzantine, Roman Catholic, Reformation Protestant, and Enlightenment modern paradigms) that constitute a still-present past of Christianity. This is an important contribution to the understanding of Christianity's present fragmentation and also to ecumenical conversation to the extent that it resists the temptation to think of later paradigms as rendering earlier paradigms obsolete; that all five paradigms coexist in Ku{}ng's analysis is a reminder that ecumenical conversation has to reckon with translation and (sometimes) untranslatability.
